CD99 is an O-glycosylated transmembrane protein and the gene product of MIC2. It is expressed on Ewing sarcoma/primitive neuroectodermal tumor cells (ES/PNET), Sertorli cells, pancreatic islet cells, thymocytes, and other hematopoietic cells. CD99 plays a role in T cell adhesion, primitive neuroectodermal cell differentiation, and leukocyte migration.
