The human Anti-Varicella-Zoster virus (VZV) is associated with two distinct diseases: childhood chickenpox (varicella) and shingles (zoster). After a primary infection, VZV remains latent in the sensory ganglia throughout the person’s lifetime and may reactivate to cause shingles. VZV DNA encodes seven glycoproteins (gB, gC, gE, gH, gI, gK, and gL) and gE is a dominant antigen of an approved vaccine (RZV, Shingrix, GSK). A rapid and effective assay kit detecting the levels of anti-VZV gE in human serum can facilitate research on antibodies produced in response to VZV infection or vaccine (approved or candidate).

This kit was tested to bind to monoclonal antibodies in IgM format (Cat. No. Z43R73) or human sera, see figures.

This kit is developed for serologic test for human IgM titer of Anti-VZV gE antibody in serum/plasma or purified human antibody (monoclonal & polyclonal) in vitro. It is for research use only. Antibodies of IgM and IgA class are a sign of an active infection (primary infection and reactivation) and disappear during convalescence. In some cases they can persist for several months.
