Narishige's SN-3N is a middle size stereotaxic instrument for animals used in optical experiments. This model's fixing method employs a flexible U-frame (as an alternative to the solid U-frame featured on the SN-2N), which is suitable for middle size animals and enables the conduct of optical (visual) experiments. It uses a heavy base with a low center of gravity. To fix the zero point of head -- which is its basic axis -- in position, units for fixing three separate points are mounted on a U-frame.      The AP frame bar is 18.7mm square, and sufficiently long for the attachment of manipulators and various other accessories. The Uframe itself can be moved freely. Numerous screw holes are provided on the base frame to allow the attachment of different kinds of accessories or spinal cord fixing equipment.
