A versatile blocking agent and protein stabilizer.

Role in R&D/Diagnostics:

● Blocking: Used to "block" empty spaces on solid surfaces (e.g., ELISA plate wells, nitrocellulose membranes) after coating with a capture antibody or antigen. It saturates non-specific binding sites, preventing the subsequent detection antibodies from sticking randomly and causing high background.

● Stabilizer: Added to antibody conjugates and assay buffers to stabilize proteins, prevent adsorption to surfaces, and reduce aggregation, thereby improving assay reproducibility and shelf-life.

● Carrier Protein: Often used as an inert carrier protein in sample diluents to mimic the protein composition of biological samples and reduce non-specific interactions.
