●Homogenizers
OPS Diagnostics offers homogenizers for mechanical sample disruption, providing flexible tools for cell and tissue lysis across a wide range of sample preparation workflows. Unlike chemical lysis methods, mechanical homogenization produces lysates with different characteristics and is commonly performed by shaking tubes, vials, or plates so that grinding media collide with and break the sample. The product line includes high-throughput homogenizers, bead mill homogenizers, and related homogenization accessories.
☉Vortex Mixers: Although not originally designed for this purpose, vortex mixers are often used for sample disruption by combining grinding beads and samples in tubes followed by repeated vortexing. This approach is commonly used for microbial lysis and can also be applied to tissue disruption when paired with larger zirconium or stainless steel grinding media.
☉Bead Mill Homogenizers: Bead mill homogenizers are designed for rapid sample processing and have evolved from single-tube systems to models capable of handling up to 24 microcentrifuge tubes at once. Homogenization is achieved through short-stroke, high-speed shaking for efficient sample disruption.
☉High-Throughput Homogenizers: High-throughput homogenizers are developed to address bottlenecks in large-scale sample preparation workflows. These systems support batch homogenization strategies for laboratories handling multiple samples in parallel.
●Nucleic Acid Extraction Research Kits
OPS Diagnostics provides nucleic acid extraction products based on its Synergy™ technology, which integrates bead beating directly into the purification workflow. This platform uses proprietary chemistry to bind contaminants to the Synergy™ grinding matrix, enabling efficient and cost-effective isolation of high-quality nucleic acids without the use of hazardous chloroform. The portfolio includes Synergy™ extraction kits, magnetic nanoparticles, and related nucleic acid extraction products.
●Grinding Beads and Pre-Filled Lysis Tubes
This product line includes zirconium silicate and silicate-based grinding beads available in multiple sizes and purity grades, either in bulk format or pre-filled into lysis tubes. OPS Diagnostics offers several bead grades and related products including pre-filled lysis tubes, pre-filled homogenization plates, low-binding grinding beads, molecular biology grade grinding beads, acid-washed grinding beads, and surface-modified silica beads.
☉Acid-Washed Grinding Beads: These beads are acid-washed to remove particulates and contaminants, then dried and heat-treated to improve cleanliness and consistency.
☉Low-Binding Grinding Beads: Based on acid-washed beads, this product type undergoes additional proprietary treatment to reduce nonspecific binding on the media surface.
☉Molecular Biology Grade Grinding Beads: These beads are processed and tested to ensure they are free of nucleic acid contamination and free of DNase, RNase, and protease activity, making them suitable for sensitive molecular biology workflows.
☉Coated Silica Beads: Surface-modified silica beads are functionalized through silane chemistry with groups such as amino, thiol, C3, and C8 moieties, enabling covalent coupling or adsorption-based applications.
●Grinding Balls and Satellite Beads
Unlike irregular grinding beads, grinding balls and satellite beads are precision-shaped spherical media produced to specific diameters. Available in materials such as stainless steel, tungsten carbide, and zirconia, they are highly durable and well suited for long homogenization runs and hard sample types.
●Grinding Vials, Plates, and Tubes
OPS Diagnostics offers a range of containers for bead beating applications, including tubes, sample vials, and plates. Proper homogenization depends on matching the container and grinding media to the sample type and sample mass. Its grinding vials are designed with a reinforced flat-bottom, self-standing format to reduce breakage during homogenization. The product range includes vial kits, replacement vials and caps, deep-well plates, and empty lysis tubes.
●Preservation and Storage
OPS Diagnostics also provides products for sample preservation and long-term storage.
